Using HOOZ
Your first envelope, step by step: the wallet, the refund address, the amount, the wait, and every state on the tracker.
Your first envelope takes about ten minutes including setup. You need a shielded Zcash wallet with ZEC in it and a Robinhood Chain address.
Before you start
- A shielded balance. Zodl, or any wallet that sends from the shielded pool. ZEC sent from a transparent address carries its history with it, and HOOZ cannot fix that.
- A receiving address. Use a fresh one. The send page can make a wallet in your browser: save the private key before you send anything. A wallet you already use links the delivery to you.
- A refund address. A transparent Zcash address (t1 or t3). NEAR Intents returns the ZEC there if no solver fills. In Zodl: Receive, then Transparent. Make a new one for each envelope.
Sending
- Open Send. Pick an amount between 0.01 and 5 ZEC.
- Paste or generate the receiving address, and the refund address.
- Press Get a deposit address. HOOZ asks NEAR Intents for a one-time Zcash address and a signed quote.
- From your shielded balance, send the exact amount to that address. One send.
- Keep the tracker open, or bookmark it. The tracker link is the only record: HOOZ keeps no account for you.
The tracker, state by state

If something looks stuck
- Waiting for a long time: check that you sent the exact amount to the right address. After the quote deadline, NEAR Intents refunds.
- Settling for more than thirty minutes: Zcash confirmations can run slow. The tracker updates every ten seconds.
- Refunded: the ZEC is back at your refund address, minus a small network fee NEAR Intents charges.
Keeping the privacy
Read the privacy page. In short: send from the shielded pool, use a fresh receiving address, avoid round amounts on a fixed schedule, and do not fund the receiving address from your known wallets afterwards.
